ANGT Vision

What is Gurukul?

Gurukul is an ancient educational system developed by rṣis and sages of India for the self-reliance of local communities. Gurukul institutions provide freedom of thought with strong moral and spiritual foundations. The goal is a society of freedom, blissful living, abundance, progress, and justice. The motto of Gurukul is “Sa’ Vidya’ Ya’ Vimuktaye”—knowledge for liberation: physical, mental, and spiritual. The multi-disciplines to be taught at Anandanagar are inspired by a universal mindset and the aim of establishing peace and harmony on earth.

The Need

Human civilization is passing through a critical period marked by a lack of enlightened leadership. When moral and spiritual direction falters, patients suffer under doctors without conscience; buildings fail under engineers driven by self-interest; justice erodes under compromised judges; and humanity is harmed by dogmatism disguised as religion. Even a drop of immorality can undermine great institutions. The loftiest edifices require the strongest foundations.

Core Mission

ANGT’s core mission is to focus on creating moral and spiritual leaders for tomorrow. The purpose of Gurukul is “to serve humanity with a neohumanist spirit and to acquire knowledge for that purpose.” In the words of our Founder: “The noblest form of social service is to educate the public and create a sense of consciousness in them. This sense of consciousness is to be inculcated in each and every human being. This is your duty… Education which leads to the acquisition of knowledge plus morality makes for a peaceful society.” Gurukul aims to bring together such Vidya-Viveks (faculty members) who burn with enthusiasm and service spirit—and to nurture learners who treat knowledge as a sacred life force to build a new society.

Future Vision

ANGT envisions a living campus where ancient wisdom and modern learning move in step—forming minds that think deeply, hearts that serve selflessly, and hands that build a healthier world. We aim to nurture capable, compassionate leaders by weaving together rigorous scholarship, humane healthcare, and daily spiritual practice. Rooted in the Gurukula ideal of self-realization and service, our roadmap advances research and innovation alongside character education and community care, so every learner grows in clarity of intellect, strength of conscience, and courage to act for the common good.
